چکیده
Abstract. Ocean gliders can provide high-spatial- and temporal-resolution data target specific ocean regions at a low cost compared to ship-based measurements. An important gap, however, given the need for carbon measurements, is lack of capable sensors glider-based CO2 We develop robust methods evaluate novel gliders. Here we present results from testing performance optode sensor (Atamanchuk et al., 2014), deployed on Slocum glider, in Labrador Sea Newfoundland Shelf. This paper (1) investigates two glider deployments, (2) demonstrates utility using autonomous SeaCycler profiler mooring (Send 2013; Atamanchuk 2020) improve situ data, (3) presents moored mobile platforms resolve fine scales temporal spatial variability O2 pCO2 Sea. The Aanderaa an early prototype that has not undergone rigorous but compact uses little power. Our analysis shows suffers instability slow response times (τ95>100 s), affected by different behavior when profiling through small (<3 ∘C) vs. large (>10 changes temperature over similar time intervals. compare observations estimate uncertainty as ± 6.14 44.01 µatm, respectively. From mission, point short timescales (<7 d) distance (<15 km) drivers change this region.

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
Eddy diffusivities estimated from observations in the Labrador Sea
[1] Eddy diffusivities in the Labrador Sea (LS) are estimated from deep eddy resolving float trajectories, moored current meter records, and satellite altimetry. A mean residence time of 248 days in the central LS is observed with several floats staying for more than 2 years. By applying a simple random walk diffusion model, the observed distribution of float residence times in the central LS c...
متن کاملOcean glider observations of iceberg-enhanced biological production in the northwestern Weddell Sea
Icebergs affect local biological production around Antarctica. We used an ocean glider to observe the effects of a large iceberg that was advected by the Antarctic Slope Current along the continental slope in the northwestern Weddell Sea in early 2012. The high-resolution glider data reveal a pronounced effect of the iceberg on ocean properties, with oxygen concentrations of (13 ± 4) μmol kg−1 ...
متن کاملRates and Mechanisms of Water Mass Transformation in the Labrador Sea as Inferred from Tracer Observations*
Time series of hydrographic and transient tracer (3H and 3He) observations from the central Labrador Sea collected between 1991 and 1996 are presented to document the complex changes in the tracer fields as a result of variations in convective activity during the 1990s. Between 1991 and 1993, as atmospheric forcing intensified, convection penetrated to progressively increasing depths, reaching ...

My immediate objective is to understand the interactions between convection and mesoscale circulation, in order to quantify the in uence of convective events on the large scale circulation. Such interactions include: (a) The lateral mixing generated by baroclinic instability and geostrophic eddy interactions. How e cient are lateral mixing processes in convective regions? Can these processes ac...
